While most health insurance policies offer cashless hospitalization facility and route your policy through a Third Party Administrator (TPA), it is advisable to be familiar with various terms and conditions provided by these insurance companies.

What is the pre-authorization procedure for planned hospitalization?

The pre-authorization procedure involves the following steps

  • Meet with the Corporate & Insurance Help Desk at the hospital.
  • At the Corporate & Insurance Help Desk, show the original health Insurance card issued to you by your TPA. You will also need to show a photocopy of the ID proof issued by a government authority, such as a PAN card, driving license, voter ID card, etc.
  • Next, collect the pre-authorization forms pertaining to your TPA.

Exercise these rights without regard to sex, economic status, educational background, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sexual orientation or marital status, or the source of payment. You have the right to:

  • Expect considerate and respectful service from the hospital
  • Respect your personal values and beliefs.
  • You have the right to come with an attendant or your family physician while taking admission to the hospital
  • Know the name of the physician, who has primary responsibility for coordinating your care and also know other medical assistants assigned to serve yo

Patients’ Responsibilities

As a patient receiving care, it is your responsibility to:

  • Providing accurate information about your health, including your present condition, past illnesses, past hospitalization history, present medications, or any relevant matters that pertain to your health.
  • Providing correct information about your name and address
  • Ask questions when you do not understand what the doctors or other members of the healthcare team inform you about the diagnosis or treatment.
  • Abide by all rules and regulations laid out by the hospital management.
  • Comply with the “No smoking” policy.
  • Comply with the visitors policies to ensure the rights and comfort of all patients.
